Smart Sports Lighting Solution for Maritzburg College

BEKA Schréder has supplied the smart lighting solution for Maritzburg College’s new Astro Hockey field in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. 

Maritzburg College is the oldest boys’ school in KwaZulu-Natal. With world-class facilities, high-quality coaching, and a focus on physical development, Maritzburg College is renowned for excellence on the sports field. Many professional sportsmen played school sport at this school. With 15 Springbok caps and many regional and district representatives, the success of their Old Boys in sport can be ascribed to the school’s high coaching standards and strong sporting culture.

Maritzburg College was the first school within KwaZulu-Natal to construct an Astro Hockey Field and recently engaged with BEKA Schréder to supply the sports lighting solution. The LED floodlights supplied have been designed and manufactured in South Africa, taking the continent’s harsh environmental conditions into account, ensuring a long lifetime.

Astro Hockey Field Lighting

BEKA Schréder’s LED floodlight, the OMNIBLAST-2-E MIDI, illuminates the Astro Hockey field. This product was chosen to achieve the required 350 lux level. Integrated with the Schréder ITERRA lighting control system, the school is able to control the lighting even from a remote location, enabling them to entertain their supporters with a spectacular light show whilst supporting their team.
