African Angels School's Security Lighting
Sustainable security solar lighting solution ensures that there will be no associated energy costs going forward
We are proud to have supplied the sustainable security solar lighting solution at the African Angels School, funded by the Schréder Together Fund and facilitated by the King Baudouin Foundation.
The school is located in Chintsa East, a seaside village, just outside East London, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Providing an affordable alternative to state education for an impoverished community, African Angels Independent School is a beacon of hope for the 158 children who attend school each day. The school provides well equipped classrooms, qualified and experienced teachers, a properly applied curriculum, as well as porridge for breakfast and a hot lunch for each child every day. The school is located on a remote farm and has both boys and girls boarding facilities.
Good lighting is essential to keep their 59 hostel learners and eight staff safe after dark. Six SOLARFLOOD single units have been distributed around the campus and have been manufactured and delivered by BEKA Schréder, part of the Schréder Group, and provide a sustainable security lighting solution with no associated energy costs going forward.
African Angels is a local charity who runs a school, a community computer lab, a boys’ mentoring project, and an early childhood development project in Chintsa East.
We locally develop and manufacture sustainable lighting products, designed and suitable for local conditions. We are extremely proud to be associated with this very special project in creating a cost efficient and safer space for the school’s learners and staff after dark.
